Who we are

and what makes us different.

Welcome to Pamoja Love, a closely engaged and personal nonprofit dedicated to creating a world that not only sees but also takes action. Our mission extends across Tanzania and Kenya. Pamoja means TOGETHER in Swahili, where we believe in the power of people rising up together to reach out in love, bringing hope and healing to those in need.

At Pamoja Love, we go beyond traditional charity work. We actively work with local leaders who have become like family. They are on the ground, serving widows, the vulnerable, children, and individuals with disabilities. We believe in joining hands with these leaders, following their guidance, and becoming a part of the stories they are already weaving in their communities. We see ourselves as a bridge, connecting hearts and resources to make a meaningful impact on the lives of those we serve.

Whether through team trips, support for widows, or empowerment initiatives for the vulnerable, our approach is grounded in collaboration and compassion. We strive to be a catalyst for positive change, joining in the narrative of communities and working together to build a future filled with hope, healing, and love.

Pursuing God’s plan for Pamoja Love has taken us to unexpected places, from constructing new education centers to launching initiatives. We've tackled a myriad of projects - from medical clinics, building homes for widows, adding a computer center and clinics to the school in the slum, and empowering young unwed mothers - all guided by the principle of joining local leaders to help them fulfill their vision on the ground. Our story is one of continuous growth, learning, and always working together to make a meaningful impact.

Join us on this transformative journey as we bridge gaps and create lasting change in the lives of those who need it most. Together, we can be the difference that brings about a brighter tomorrow.

Our Story.

A note from the founder.

In 2006, my husband, Dave, and I were leading a dynamic children's ministry at our church. With the encouragement of our missions director we decided to challenge the kids to raise funds for vulnerable children in Tanzania, and our club exceeded all expectations. The overwhelming interest and support we received inspired us deeply. Witnessing the impact of the funds through photos and stories moved our hearts.

The journey continued when my husband and eldest daughter joined our church's team trip to Africa in 2007, working on a community center in Tanzania. The following year, I and my second-born child joined my husband on the trip to Africa, marking the beginning of our annual involvement. Over time, we found ourselves entrusted with leading most of the team trips out of the ten trips—a role that challenged, grew, and blessed us immensely. God's nudges guided us towards the idea of initiating a nonprofit.

Little did we know that, as we envisioned a mission to serve widows and orphans, our family would face a painful loss. In our first year, Dave, my husband and co-founder, passed away after a fierce battle with cancer. Four months later, we embarked on our first official Pamoja Love Dream Team trip, and the momentum hasn't ceased. Beauty emerged from ashes, highlighting that every story filled with joy and pain matters. This experience fuels our commitment to showing up in a hurting world with empathy, compassion, and a willing spirit.

We firmly believe that every person's story has something to offer another. As you explore our website, we invite you to find your role in this story, to join hands with us and be part of something beyond yourself. It's true, together we can make a difference.

It's true, together we can make a difference.

This is our time on the history line of God. This is it. What will we do with the one deep exhale of God on this earth? For we are but a vapor and we have to make it count. We’re on. Direct us, Lord, and get us on our feet.
