Travel Days to Nairobi
July 5 + 6th - Seattle to Nairobi
International flights to Nairobi. Pray for safe travels, smooth immigration processes, luggage to make it to destination, strong immunity systems, solid rest on the flights. Settle in and get a good nights sleep.
July 7 - Fly to Western Kenya
Pray for smooth domestic travel and safety as the team transitions into Western Kenya. Pray for flexibility, energy, and healthy bodies as we begin moving into ministry spaces and communities. Ask God to prepare the hearts of the widows, families, and leaders we will meet in the coming days.
The Widows’ Project | Western Kenya
Widows in Western Kenya often lose far more than a husband. Many lose security, land, protection, legal rights, and social standing. In the communities where we serve, widows are often blamed for their husband’s death and viewed as carrying a curse, leaving many pushed to the margins of society — isolated, abandoned, and deeply vulnerable.
Through The Widows’ Project, we come alongside these women as they rebuild stability, restore dignity, and strengthen relationships within their communities. Together with local leaders, we build safe homes and create spaces of support through mentorship programs, table banking groups, leadership retreats, and ongoing community care.
More than building homes, this work is about reminding widows they are seen, valued, and not forgotten.
July 8 - Widow’s Homes
Today the team will help build and work on widows’ homes alongside local leaders and community members. Pray for strength, safety, teamwork, and encouragement throughout the day. Pray these homes would become places of safety, dignity, rest, and renewed hope. Pray every widow we encounter would feel seen, valued, and deeply loved by the God who never takes His eyes off of her.
July 9 - Widow’s Homes + Widow Mentorship Gathering
Pray for deep connection and meaningful conversations with the widows gathering today. Pray for gentleness, wisdom, and compassion as stories are shared. Ask God to strengthen the women in their grief, leadership, faith, and daily responsibilities. Pray for relationships to grow and for moments that remind each widow she is not abandoned or forgotten.

July 10 - Home Visits + People with Disabilities Group
Today the team will visit homes and spend time with individuals and families navigating disability, hardship, and isolation. Pray for humility, compassion, and eyes to truly see people with dignity and honor. Pray for moments of laughter, encouragement, and genuine connection. Ask God to strengthen caregivers, families, and community leaders serving faithfully every day behind the scenes.
July 11 - Leadership Appreciation Outing
Pray this day would deeply encourage and refresh the local pastors, leaders, and ministry partners who serve their communities year round. Pray they would feel appreciated, strengthened, supported, and reminded they are not carrying the weight of ministry alone. Ask God to deepen friendship, trust, and shared vision between our teams.
July 12 - Church Day
Pray for the church gathering, worship, conversations, and ministry opportunities throughout the day. Pray for the team members sharing, encouraging, or serving in any capacity. Ask God to move through every interaction with gentleness and truth. Pray people would encounter the nearness of God and experience hope, comfort, and encouragement.
Jigger Clinic | Western Kenya
Jiggers are tiny parasites that live in the dirt floors of homes and burrow into the skin, most often affecting the feet and hands of children, the elderly, and vulnerable individuals living in extreme poverty. Once embedded, they multiply rapidly, bringing intense pain, infection, disease, and in severe cases can eat away at fingers, toes, and mobility itself.
With proper treatment and care, individuals can often become jigger free within just a couple of weeks. But lasting prevention requires addressing the source. Because jiggers thrive in dirt floors, one of the most effective long term solutions is installing a cement floor inside the home.
This is why we encourage those sponsoring a widow’s home listed above to also consider sponsoring a cement floor as an added gift — helping create not only shelter, but a safer and healthier living environment for generations to come.

Pray for physical rest, emotional processing, and good health for the team. Pray this quieter day would allow space to reflect on what God is doing through the project areas, ministries and with each of us as individuals. Ask for renewed strength and energy for the Nairobi portion of the trip ahead.

July 15 - Kibera Slum • Saviour King Educational Center
Today the team will spend time with the children and staff at Saviour King Educational Center in Kibera. Pray for joy, connection, laughter, creativity, and meaningful interactions with the children. Pray every child would feel valued, safe, known, and loved. Pray for the teachers, staff, and leadership faithfully caring for and educating hundreds and hundreds of children every day.
July 16 - Kibera Slum: The Dignity Project - Women’s Empowerment
Pray for honest conversations, encouragement, and mutual learning as we spend time with the women of Lily Among Thorns. Pray for strength, provision, healing, dignity, and opportunity for the women and families connected to the program. Ask God to continue building lasting relationships rooted in friendship, honor, and hope.
July 17 - Saviour King Fun Day
Today the team will spend the day with the children through special activities, games, a possible outing, and shared experiences together. Pray for joy, laughter, connection, and meaningful moments with the children. Pray the kids would feel deeply seen, loved, encouraged, and celebrated. Ask God to continue strengthening the staff, teachers, and caregivers faithfully investing into these children every single day.
July 18 - Garden of Eden Children’s Home
Located about an hour outside of Nairobi, Garden of Eden Children’s Home provides a safe family environment for children from Kibera who were living in severely at risk situations and in need of safety, stability, and protection.
The home focuses on holistic care, healing, discipleship, education, and equipping children for the future within a loving and consistent family environment. Faithful caregivers walk closely alongside the children, helping restore safety, trust, confidence, and hope.
Our team will spend two nights at the children’s home participating in daily life alongside the children through games, crafts, devotionals, meals, activities, conversations, and simply spending time together.
July 19 - Church + Garden of Eden Children’s Home
Pray for the church gatherings and for the team members sharing messages or testimonies today. Ask God to bring encouragement, unity, and hope through every conversation and interaction. Pray for the children at Garden of Eden to continue feeling seen, loved, and secure. Pray for God’s presence to be deeply felt throughout the day. And for physical safety in the the always high energy Sunday afternoon soccer games.
July 20 - Pack + Depart for Home
As the team prepares to leave Kenya, pray for safe travels home, smooth airport transitions, and protection over every flight. Pray for healthy processing of all that was experienced during the trip. Ask God to continue the relationships built, the stories shared, and the work begun long after the team returns home. Pray our global partners and dear friends would continue to feel supported, strengthened, and deeply encouraged in the everyday work they faithfully carry year round.

Kibera Slum | Nairobi
Kibera is considered one of the largest slums in Africa, with close to one million people living within extreme poverty, overcrowding, limited access to clean water, unemployment, and serious risk for children. Yet in the middle of it is deep resilience, community, joy, and hope.
In Kibera, we partner with Saviour King Educational Center — a place of hope serving the surrounding community every single day. Together through The Hope Project, we support nearly 700 children through education, feeding programs, daycare, technology education, dance, music, sports programs, and a medical clinic serving children and families within the community.
Through The Dignity Project, young mothers receive empowerment, vocational training, discipleship, therapy, and community as they work toward stability and opportunity for their families.
For over 20 years we have walked alongside these leaders and dear friends as they faithfully serve widows, vulnerable families, children, and the elderly throughout Kibera.
